
Oregon DKG members, welcome our International Guest!
Barbara Clausen will join us at the Spring 2022 Oregon State Conference in Silverton on April 29 – May 1. She brings an international update from International DKG President Becky Sadowski. Ms. Clausen will share her ideas and passion about the 2022 New Orleans International Conference ,July 12-17, 2022.
Barbara has been a member of the Washington State Organization and Chi Chapter, Cowlitz County, for 44 years. She served as a chapter president, in many state offices including state president and leadership development chair, and seven years as state parliamentarian. Barbara received the Washington State Achievement Award in 2006. She led the DKG state strategic planning process for three cycles. At the international level, Barbara served on the Int. World Fellowship Committee and later as chair of that committee. She has also served on the Int. Revision Team, twice on the Int. Constitution Committee, and currently, serves as Northwest Regional Director on the Administrative Board. Her journey includes her passion for all things DKG, her commitment to its forward movement, and enjoyment in the wonderful fellowship with others as she meets members around the world.
Ms. Clausen taught high school English for 13 years and served as a building principal, curriculum director, and assistant superintendent in three Washington districts for 18 years. She then coordinated a second-level teacher certification program at Washington State University Vancouver for 10 additional years. After 41 years in education, Barbara has found a full life besides DKG in her love of quilting, growing flowers, traveling, and writing grants to feed hungry children in Kelso-Longview. She looks forward to meeting you!

Carolyn Pittman
International Revitalization Leader

A native of Texas, Pittman taught for 40 years (English & Social Studies) in Arkansas and worked in the Department of Education. Carolyn joined DKG in 1981 and has held chapter, state, and international offices. She attended and later led the Leadership Management Seminar; supported DKGNext (now DKG Ignite!), worked to simplify activities, and helped structure the revitalization plans. Her goals include inclusion, transparency, simplification, and asking members what they want--which is what she will be doing for Oregon.
